Assessor Jeff Taylor can not stop duplicate homestead exemptions, so the Parish Council, School Board, and the Sheriff have to help him out. That is pitiful. In this day and age a simple computer search should solve this. Guess he spends too much time making sure the good old boys do not have to pay their fair share.

The Livingston Parish News listed the ten biggest news stories in 2018 in the December 30 edition. Number 5 was “Parish population hits 145,000 with 100 homes sold each month and 95% increase in commercial permits.” Number 10 was “Parish budget soars to $66 Billion dollars. Sales taxes continue to rise and fill parish coffers. Since 2001, the parish’s sales tax revenue has grown nearly $1 million dollars per month.” Based on these two articles we can safely assume tax dollar revenues for the Sheriff’s office and the School Board have/will continue to rise. The parish voters made a wise decision to vote against the perpetual (forever) unnecessary sales tax proposed by the Sheriff and backed by the School Board. Now we wait to see if they really are concerned with the safety of our children and their teachers or were they only interested in more money. How much of all the tax dollar increases they are now getting are going to be used for school safety. My name is Bobby Allen Achord and I still haven’t seen any visible signs of increased school security.
