Tonia LaRue Matthews

Tonia LaRue Matthews, a native of Denham Springs, LA, was a Living testimony of the Bible’s second greatest commandment, “Love Your Neighbor as Yourself.” Tonia was the second oldest of six children. Tonia, known by all who ever knew her as Toni and by few as Tiger, was born in Saginaw, MI, but spent most of her childhood growing up in Zwolle, LA. She attended Many High School. After graduating high school, Toni attended Louisiana Technical College - Sabine Valley Campus, where she pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Toni spent nearly 30 years working as a nurse in multiple specialities, but her love was surgery (General, ENT/Maxillofacial, Orthopedic, Cardiothoracic, Trauma, Ophthalmology/Cornea Transplants). Toni enjoyed being a mother, spending time with her family, and helping others in need. She was truly uniquely created and a selfless servant to anyone in need. An avid lover of God, family, and people, Toni loved caring and cooking for others. These were her ministries, nursing and fellowship with others. She never met a stranger nor was too busy to stop and listen. She was always concerned more for others than herself. She is survived by her three children Cory Alden Matthews, Jeffrey Taylor Matthews, and Stephanie Anne Matthews. Memorial Services will be held Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 865 Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs, LA, 70726. A fellowship with food/refreshments will be provided after the service. Funeral services provided by Church Funeral Services & Crematory.
