WALKER – Walker Police Chief David Addison said his department will begin a warrant roundup starting Tuesday.

The chief told the City Council at its meeting Monday night that that there are “thousands and thousands of dollars” sitting in warrants from unpaid fines.

The focus of the roundup will be in Livingston Parish, outside the Walker city limits, Ascension Parish and St. Helena Parish, Addison said.

Addison said he also hopes to see a reduction in car burglaries after a recent car chase of three suspects.

While detectives were staked out recently looking for car burglars, a resident in Country Village called the department to report three people trying to break into his car.

“They took off,” Addison said, leading police on a chase on La. 16, Arnold Road and Melrose at La. 1019 before they got away.

The car they were in was later found wrecked behind a home. It had been reported stolen, he said.
