WALKER – Two public hearings are scheduled for Monday, March 12, on a rezoning request and the sale of surplus land before the Walker City Council.

The City Council meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Cliff Marsh appeared before the city Zoning Commission and requested to have property at 10799 Florida Blvd. rezoned from R-PG to RC.

The zoning panel sent the request to the City Council recommending approval and a public hearing was scheduled for March 12.

The other public hearing would put up for sale 0.598 of an acre off Ball Park Road – declared surplus by the city. Aguilar Consultants of Baton Rouge appraised the tract at $8,145

The City Council is also scheduled to receive updates on the renovations of ball fields at Sidney Hutchinson Park from facility manager Brian Farlow and on the Safe House planned at the park from Jamie Etheridge, chief of operations.
