DENHAM SPRINGS – Five ordinances – including two requesting rezoning and two on the city budget – are scheduled to be introduced and have public hearing dates set by the Denham Springs City Council at its meeting today.
The meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
An ordinance to adopt a city budget for 2018-19 and a second ordinance to amend the city budget for the 2017-18, which ends June 30, are scheduled to be introduced with hearings set for the June 25 council meeting.
A third ordinance is scheduled to be introduced, also with a June 25 hearing date, to amend the Code of Ordinances concerning compensation for the mayor.
Meanwhile, two public hearings are to be scheduled on ordinances to rezone property from commercial to residential and residential to commercial.
The first public hearing would be on an ordinance to rezone 3.93 acres at the former Golden Age Nursing Home on 4-H Club Road from C-2 Commercial to R-1 Single Family Residential Tract B.
The rezoning is being requested by Plantation Management Corp.
The second public hearing would be on an ordinance to rezone Lot 2 of Lakeland Acres subdivision from R-1 Residential to C-3 Commercial.
The rezoning is being requested by Denise Stockwell.
In other business on the agenda, the council will consider authorizing Mayor Gerard Landry to apply for a SEDAP grant for five sewer backup pumps.
The grant would be for $280,760 and require no matching funds.
The council will also consider approving a change order of $15,146 and increased contract time to Barriere Construction Co. for the Maple Street Widening and Overlay Project.
