LIVINGSTON -- Early voting kicks off today (Oct. 23) throughout Louisiana for races to decide congressional members, a secretary of state and six state constitutional amendments.

Early voting for the election begins Tuesday, Oct. 23 and ends Oct. 30. Hours will run from 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the office on 29938 South Magnolia Street, on every day but Sunday.

The ballot will include a joint proposition from the Livingston Parish School Board and Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office for a perpetual half-cent sales tax to fund resource officers on all 46 school campuses across the parish.

In addition, voters will also decide on term limits for the Livingston Parish Council and Parish President.

The ballot will include races for mayor in Denham Springs and Albany. A special election in Killian will determine who will fill the remainder of the term of Craig McGehee, who resigned in June 2017.

Voters in Albany and Denham Springs will also choose five council members in both municipalities, while Albany will vote on who will serve as police chief for the next four years.

School Board seats for District 8 and 9 are also on the ballot.

State constitutional amendments on the ballot include:

--Prohibiting convicted felons from seeking public office.

--Unanimous jury for non-capital felonies.

--Permit donations from political subdivisions.

--Transportation Trust Fund.

--Extension of eligibility for tax exemptions.

--Reappraisal of residential property.

--Authorization of fantasy sports contests.
