Frank and Pat Gurley, victims in double homicide

DENHAM SPRINGS -- A blunt force trauma  injury to the head was ruled as the cause of death for the couple that police found dead the earlier this week.

The findings on the deaths of Eugene "Frank" and Pat Gurley were released after a preliminary autopsy conducted by the East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office, via the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office.

Meanwhile, Michael Collins, whom the Denham Springs Police Department deemed a "person of interest" in the double homicide, is still believe to be in the northeast portion of Tennessee.

He is being actively sought by the Louisiana Fugitive Apprehension Task Force with the assistance of authorities in Tennessee.

Police officers discovered the bodies shortly after midnight Oct. 31. Neighbors told officers they had not seen or heard from the Gurleys since Oct. 29.

Neighbors notified Denham Springs police after they made a welfare check and got no response.

Their son and police officers found the Gurleys in a warehouse of their business, National Pool Builders, on Pete's Highway, at the corner of Tate Road.

Both were well known throughout the community. Eugene Gurley was a retired school teacher from Denham Springs High School and Denham Springs Junior High.
