BATON ROUGE -- Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today magazine recognized eye surgeon Dr. Blake Williamson, of the Williamson Eye Center, for presenting one of the top 10 surgical videos featured on Eyetube in 2018.
Eyetube is ophthalmology’s website for full-narrated ophthalmic surgical videos.
It was created by a panel of experts to better educate ophthalmologists through the online archiving and sharing of videos.
Williamson’s video is titled, “iStent Inject with Laser Cataract Surgery and ORA-Guided Toric IOL Implantation.” It will be used by ophthalmologists and industry members across the world to provide more advanced care to patients with glaucoma and cataracts.
“Microinvasive glaucoma surgery pairs well with advanced refractive cataract surgery,” Williamson said, “because both procedures have a positive impact on lifestyle via spectacle independence and a reduction in medication burden.”
“It is a great honor to be included in this list among many of the leaders in ophthalmology,” Williamson said. “Our goal in sharing our expertise is always to provide better care for patients.”
Williamson practices comprehensive ophthalmology, specializing in state of the art cataract and refractive surgery, as well as glaucoma care with specialty in micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).
“I am very proud of the accomplishments that Dr. Blake Williamson has achieved in his career,” said Dr. Charles Williamson, CEO/medical director of the Williamson Eye Center.
“He has become known as an industry leader and is carrying on the legacy of our practice in advancing the field of ophthalmology to provide the best possible care for patients around the world,” he said.
