road sign

Work by the state Department of Transportation and Development will continue through Saturday on Florida Boulevard between Denham Springs and Walker.

DENHAM SPRINGS – Florida Boulevard will have lane closures nightly beginning today through Saturday, according to the state Department of Transportation and Development.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes will have intermittent closures from Pete’s Highway (La. 16) to Walker South Road (La. 447), said Kris Wascom, project engineer with the DOTD District 62 office in Hammond.

The lane closures are necessary to allow crews to install mailboxes and signals on the road project, Wascom said.

The work is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, he said. At least one lane will remain open at all times.

To avoid the construction zone, motorists can use Interstate 12 as an alternate route, he said.
