The Freedom Depot is open for business.

Boy Scout Tyler Michael Roberts, of Troop 158, recently presented a flag disposal box — nicknamed the Freedom Depot — to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7017 in Denham Springs.

Roberts completed the project as part of his Eagle Scout requirements. He wanted to honor the country’s flag along with men and women who served under it.

The Freedom Depot was placed at the post in honor of veterans on Veterans Day, and it is designed to collect retired American Flags.

The public is now invited to dispose of their flags at VFW Post 7017, located at 113 Centerville Street in Denham Springs.
