Summer camp help

Summer is nearly here and that means a slew of summer sports camps around the area will be available to Livingston Parish youth.

The News is looking for any information on camps to provide readers with as much information as possible, and also to give our talented photographers a chance to shoot your kids in action.

Walker Baseball Ultimate Summer Camp

Dates: June 19-22

Time: 9-11 a.m.

Ages/Grades: 7-14

Location: Walker High School baseball field

Fee for the camp is $90. There is a $20 discount for Livingston Parish School Board employees and additional siblings.

Make check for fees out to Randy Sandifer. Payment is due on the morning camp starts.

St. Michael Boys Basketball Camp

Dates: June 19-23 | June 26-30

Times: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Grades: 7-9 | 4-6 | K-3

Location: St. Michael High School (Baton Rouge)

For a camp fee of $150, campers will get instruction from Warriors’ coach Drew Hart and will learn in a disciplined, enthusiastic and highly organized atmosphere. There will be competition and contests with a focus on developing skills in passing, ball-handling, offensive moves (triple threat, cuts, screening post moves), shooting, rebounding fundamentals, man-to-man defense fundamentals and learning how to work as a team.

St. Michael Baseball Camp

Dates: July 10-12

Times: 9 a.m.-noon

Grades: 3-8

Location: St. Michael High School (Baton Rouge)

For a camp fee of $100, learn hitting, pitching, fielding and base-running fundamentals from the St. Michael baseball coaches and current Warrior players.

Denham Springs Football Youth & Middle School Camps

Dates: June 19-20 | June 21 | June 22-23

Times: 9:30 a.m.-1:30 pm. | 7-9:30 p.m. | 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Grades: 1st-5th (day camps), 6th-8th (night camp)

Location: Yellow Jacket Stadium

New Yellow Jackets’ coach Bill Conides is eager to welcome campers to his summer camps, which cost $40 for one 4-hour day session, $70 for both day sessions and $20 ‘Yellow Jackets Under the Lights” for players going into 6th-8th grades. The goal of the camp is to provide expert instruction in the fundamentals of football and techniques needed to play the sport successfully. Each player will receive hands-on instruction from Conides and his coaching staff. All campers will receive a T-shirt and will need to wear football cleats. Water will be supplied.

Gearing Up Football Camp

Dates: June 19-23

Times: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Ages/Grades: 6-13

Location: Walker High School

The $125 camp fee ($125 after June 13) covers instruction from the Walker coaching staff as well as Matt Forte and other former professional athletes.

Athletes should wear shorts and sneakers or cleats. Concessions will be available throughout the day.

Walker High Skills and Drills Softball Camp

Dates: June 27-29

Times: 8 a.m.-noon

Ages: 6-13

Location: Walker High School

The camp fee is $65 for those who register by June 20, and an additional $10 fee for those who register after June 20. The fee includes a camp T-shirt and lunch.

Doyle High Softball Camp

When: June 26-28

Grades: K-5
