SOFTBALL | Mandeville rides early lead to 6-1 win over Maurepas

Posted

MAUERPAS -- Mandeville scored a pair of two-out runs in the 3rd inning and extended the lead the following inning with an offensive breakout to down Maurepas 6-1 on Wednesday.

The Lady Skippers (23-5) produced six hits and three runs against Lady Wolves’ ace McKenna Lessard, and Maurepas (18-9) never mounted much of an answer.

The Lady Wolves didn’t collect their first hit until the 4th inning, and their only run came across after Lessard singled to left field to start the 5th inning and raced home on Sarah Crawford’s double.

Before that, Mandeville pitcher Grace O’Berry retired 12 of the first 13 batters she faced and she was just as tough after the small Maurepas rally by mowing down nine of the last 11 hitters.

The Lady Wolves continue a busy week when they take on Holden at 4 p.m. Thursday.
