The 2017 LHSAA softball postseason gains momentum tonight with a pair of parish teams in action.

Despite a rough ride through District 4-5A, Denham Springs High and first-year coach Leslie Yellott earned a spot as the No. 18 seed in Class 5A and will travel to Pineville for a 5:30 p.m. game on Monday.

The Lady Rebels (14-14) are the No. 15 seed after going 4-6 in District 2-5A. Two years ago, the two teams met in the regional round with the Lady Jackets claiming a wild 14-13 decision.

Albany (23-8-1) claimed the No. 10 seed in Class 3A and will play at home at 4:30 p.m. Monday vs. Port Barre (10-14). The Lady Hornets are seeking their first playoff win since 2012 after winning the district championship.

Three more parish teams start their playoff seasons on Tuesday.

District 4-5A co-champion Live Oak (18-8) gets started as the No. 11 seed and will play host to Haughton (14-14) at 5 p.m.

The other two parish teams from District 9-2A round out the first-round postseason schedule: Doyle (20-10) is the No. 3 seed as the district co-champion with STA and will play host to Rayville (2-13) at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sartwell Park in Livingston, while Springfield (8-17) is the 15 seed and will be at home against Red River (22-7) at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Holden (27-1) is the top seed in Class B and will wait for a regional game against the winner of Monterey and Oak Hill. Maurepas (18-12) is the 2 seed in Class C and is set to face Starks (10-11) at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the regional round.
