ALBANY -- Albany continued its recent upswing with a 10-0 win over Independence in District 9-3A action on Tuesday.

The Hornets built a 7-0 lead before putting the game away with a three-run 6th, and the game was called early on the 10-run rule.

Donovan Giamalva gave up five hits, one walk and struck out five in a complete-game win, while Tyler Allbritton went 2-for-4 to lead the Hornets at the plate.

The Hornets moved to 6-18 overall and 4-1 in district play ahead of Wednesday's 5:30 p.m. game at Independence. The Hornets play at Springfield at 11 a.m. Saturday.
