Laura Belle Fontenot Cowart, age 93, went to her heavenly home on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at Belle Maison Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Evangeline Parish and a resident of Albany. Laura Belle enjoyed life, was an excellent cook, and especially enjoyed spending time with her loving family, friends, and her cat, Tabby. She was a loving, beautiful, and caring woman who will be greatly missed. Laura Belle is survived by her sons, Perry Wayne Cowart and wife Lorraine, Kenneth Carl Cowart and wife Susan; grandchildren, Trina Guzan and husband David, Mark Cowart and wife Rebecca, Wilford Wade Cowart and wife Kristen, Matthew Cowart and friend Juanita Jones, John Cowart and wife Melissa, Sharee Jones and husband Trey; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Maci, Andrew, Joshua, Tyler, Rini, and Jacob Cowart; Griffin, Grace and Gage Guzan; Andrew and Avery Jones. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Wilford Cowart; daughter, Rita Joy Cowart; granddaughter, Lily Guzan; parents, Edwin and Rita Rozas Fontenot; and siblings, Sibyl, Berna, Ellie, and Mervin Fontenot. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Monday, Aug. 8, until the funeral service. Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P. and Brother Sammy Smith officiated. Interment followed in Greenlawn Mausoleum, Hammond.
