DENHAM SPRINGS – The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is still seeking a third suspect in a March 5 stabbing case.

Deputies are searching for Carmelo Vidal Barreras on a charge of attempted second-degree murder, Sheriff Jason Ard said.

Ruben Vidal Barreras, 20, 26180 Bobby Gill, Denham Springs, was arrested March 7 for attempted second-degree murder and second-degree battery: intentional serious bodily harm, Ard said.

Bond was set at $85,000.

Fabian Vidal Barreras was booked the night of the incident on disturbing the peace by fighting, Ard said. Bond was set at $500 and he was released.

Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to a stabbing report at 6 p.m. March 5 in the 26000 block of Bobby Gill Road of Denham Springs, the sheriff said.

“Detectives learned that a planned get-together was underway at a residence,” Ard said. “It’s believed three uninvited guests showed up.

“A verbal argument led to a physical fight,” he said and two men were injured.

Fabian Vidal Barreras was taken into custody and Carmelo Vidal Barreras and Ruben Vidal Barreras fled on foot, Ard said.

The two victims were not identified, but the first victim, a 23-year-old male was listed as stable at an area hospital

The second victim, believed to be in his early 20’s, suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.
