LIVINGSTON - The School Board Thursday approved a professional of record to address flood repairs at Springfield High School.
Gasaway Gasaway and Bankston were tapped to perform the repairs to damage Springfield High School suffered during the flood of August 2016.
“This is to finish the project up,” board member Jim Richardson said. “Hopefully we will be back better than before!”
The board also approved change orders on the Walker High addition and renovation project and the Doyle High School athletic competition gym.
Jim Ziler of Ziler Architects said Walker High will see a $73,000 credit to the $23 million project after removing lighting protection and elevated walkways in the gym bleachers.
The Doyle High gym project is seeing a $31,000 increase in the $1 million project to add HVAC unit stands to meet FEMA requirements in addition to replacing cabinets, countertops and sinks in the concession stand, Ziler said.
During the meeting, the board approved the 2017-18 academic year calendar. School will start for students on Aug. 9 with the last day for students on May 24, 2018.
In other action, the board:
-Watched a brief performance of Guys and Dolls from talented theater and music students.
-Ratified Act 705 continuing education requirements for board members.
-Renewed a three-year contract with First Guarantee Bank as the fiscal agent for Livingston Parish Public Schools.
