HOLDEN – A Napoleonville man who was not wearing a seatbelt died Sunday, April 9, in a one-car crash on Interstate 12 near Holden, according to State Trooper Bryan Lee, spokesman for Troop A.
Lee identified the victim as Christopher Lasseigne, 34.
The crash occurred about 8 p.m. Sunday as Lasseigne was westbound at a high rate of speed on Interstate 12 in a 2006 Nissan Titan pickup, Lee said.
When he attempted to exit onto La. 441, he lost control of the Titan and it overturned, ejecting him, the state trooper said.
Lasseigne was declared dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office, Lee said.
It isn’t known if impairment was a factor in the crash, the trooper said, but a toxicology sample will be taken from Lasseigne and submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
