DENHAM SPRINGS – The Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications from high school seniors for three types of college scholarships.

Seniors can apply for one of three scholarships: the Academic Scholarship, Career & Technical Award or the Ability Beyond Scholarship. Each award is $500.

Applications are available at the Chamber website,, or by contacting the Chamber at 248 Veterans Blvd. Denham Springs, (225) 665-8155. 

Deadline to apply is 4 p.m. March 9. Students will be notified if they were chosen on March 24. A Scholarship Presentation Breakfast will be held April 12.

Applicants must be graduating seniors who attend school in Livingston Parish. In 2016, 14 scholarships were awarded.

Recipients will receive the scholarship for their freshman fall semester.

Applicants for the Academic Scholarship must provide their ACT score, list of honors or Advanced Placement courses, a list of any organizations, clubs or sports they are involved in, membership or participation in volunteer community services, and an essay chosen from one of five topics listed by the Chamber.

  The Career & Technical Award, or Alice Sibley Scholarship, honors Alice Sibley, who served in the Livingston Parish school system as a business education teacher, high school guidance counselor and career and technical education coordinator at the central office. 


he worked to implement programs in health care, the industry trades, business, and technician programs in the automotive industry. 

The Ability Beyond Scholarship is dedicated to students who receive 504 IEP or IEP special education services.
