WALKER – A Gonzales woman died in a one-vehicle car crash Monday, Feb. 13, and driver impairment is suspected, according to Louisiana State Police.
Kimberly Picard, 49, died in the crash shortly before 1 p.m. on La. 1019 east of Walker North Road (La. 447), said Trooper First Class Bryan Lee, spokesman for State Police Troop A.
The initial investigation by State Police found the crash occurred as Picard was eastbound on La. 1019 in a 2004 GMC Sierra, Lee said.
For reasons still under investigation, Picard ran off the right side of the roadway and lost control of her vehicle. It continued off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree on its driver’s side, he said.
Picard was unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, the trooper said.
She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash and a toxicology sample will be taken from Picard for analysis, Lee said.
