DENHAM SPRINGS — Southside Elementary School won a storage shed in the Tuff Shed Inc.’s Back to School promotional giveaway that was assembled Friday, March 31, at the school.
Tuff Shed, a supplier of storage buildings and garages, selected Southside Elementary after receiving a nomination from pre-kindergarten teacher Nancy Nichols.
Nichols said she learned about the building giveaway program through Facebook.
“My friends sent me the link for the contest and I knew I had to nominate our school,” she said. “Our previous storage shed was lost in the flood and we would not have been able to replace it.
“It’s been a challenge over the past few months,” Nichols added. “We’re a Title I school, and we are doing our best to rebuild again, and we’re making progress.”
Southside Elementary is located on a temporary campus behind Juban Parc Elementary, off Brown Road.
The building was installed on skids so it can be moved to the school’s original campus when it reopens.
The 10-foot x 20-foot Premier Ranch model building will be used to store maintenance and playground equipment, janitorial supplies and other items.
According the Tuff Shed’s website, the Premier Ranch model includes galvanized steel floor joists, Smart Finish siding, SilverTech radiant barrier siding and roof decking, and Owens Corning 25-Year shingles.
The website’s price list puts the building’s value at more than $4,000 installed.
